Our Story

Tannare was founded by Francisco Figueroa and Cindy Jennings at a time when most of America had given up on producing handmade leather items in the USA. As a third generation leather maker, Francisco grew up in a family that was well known for creating some of the best handmade saddles available anywhere in the world. As times changed and the market moved towards production in Asia, he refused to give up on his passion for leather.

Francisco and Cindy wanted to provide quality made leather goods, made in the USA, for those that demanded it. They decided to set up shop in San Antonio, a city that had long been famous for its leather craft, and create custom leather goods to order. With a focus on old world style craftsmanship and quality materials, the results made an impact with customers.

It wasn’t long before word got around about the quality of the items that they made and soon, custom leather guitar straps were being ordered for big name rock stars and country singers. Shortly thereafter, they created a few products that made waves in the marketplace and they started to sell items across the United States. Some larger brands were impressed by what they saw and the business grew to include private label production as well.

Tannare leather remains a family owned and operated business. We haven’t forgotten where we came from and what matters most. We stand behind every item that we make and take pride in our manufacturing. We are a San Antonio company and are thrilled to offer our goods, made right here in the USA.
